What to get 7mm mag or 300 win mag?

Sounds to me like you got big game hunting covered with what you have in the stable already. I am a firm believer that you don't need a magnum cartridge to kill most North American big game. I have killed plenty of animals and seen many more killed with simple .308s and .30-06s or .270s at some pretty incredible distances. That said, of the two you have listed I much prefer the 7RM over the .300WM. Unless you plan on shooting 215s or heavier the 7 will do anything just as well as the .300 ballistically speaking and do it more efficiently with less recoil. What little difference there may be will never be felt by whatever you are killing with it.

Ah heck, forget them 7mm and 30 cal "girly guns"....get yurself a Barrett 50 BMG. Then you won't ever have to go home a suckin ur thumb sayin "we shot the elk seven times and it didn't die."

I've had them all. My favorite until Monday was the 300 RUM with the 230 Berger. 3000+fps and no tracking. Monday I received my 300 Norma Mag Improved from Ryan Pierce from Piercision Rifles out of Iowa. No change in performance over the RUM, but longer brass life and better brass. For a non-magnum, the 284 Shehane does everything I've asked of it excluding big bears in Alaska. Bullet mass does make a difference on target....
