What to expect at 300 to be competitive?

Doing more load development with my 6br and 90 grain Berger BT. Getting what I think are decent results at 300 yards using a bipod and squeeze bag prone. Looking to maybe start competing soon and wondering what it takes to be competitive at this distance. Here are some of the development targets.
Thanks for any insight.

All at 300 yards
Top row left to right:
XBR 30.6-1 / 5 shot .660
XBR 30.6-2 / 3 shot .415

Bottom row left to right:
XBR 30.8-1 / 5 shot .812
XBR 30.8-2 / 3 shot .642
XBR 30.8-3 / 3 shot .650

Hey Jelrod, the target on top row>>>left to right>>2nd target looks awesome. If you are talking 300 yard F-Open, that certainly qualifies for being competitive. I try and shoot with all my F-Open rifles between 0.750 and 1.125 inches at 300 yards on a regular basis. If you can do that, you will certainly win your share of matches IF your wind-reading is "about the same" as everyone else... If you are talking Benchrest competition, I have NEVER shot 300 yards competitively, however, I have read that if you can keep 5 shots consistently, at or below an inch at 300 yards, you will be competitive with most shooters. It appears that if that rifle shoots that way regularly, you are in business in either direction!! Keep in mind that if you shoot F-Open OR bench, you should use a really good front rest.. Excellent shooting!!

What kind of competition?

Really don't know yet what's available around me or even what type of class my rifle will be be best suited. Going to have to do a little more research.

Thanks guys. I'll see what's around here in F Open. I've never shot from a rest but there's a 3" attachment for the bottom rail on the chassis so I may need to look into that.

Buy you some f class 300 yard NRA targets from midway....and try it out for 20 shots! If you can clean it, then you are good to go. I practice in 300 yard f class targets and it helps to see what I can do for twenty shots.

Thanks I'll do that and give it a try. Also some searching shows F Class matches in NC at Catawba Valley around an hour from me so I'm going to check that out and find out rules/regs.

Just fyi, you can shoot from a bipod in F-open. Not many do, but it is within the rules.

The next match is Oct. 19th. These are really fun matches.

There are lots of varmint matches around. You would be competitive if handle the wind.

You might also check out UBR. You could shoot in factory modified if you are under 13.5 lbs otherwise in unlimited. It's fun and pretty competitive.
