What size groups at 50 yards to be competitive?

Hello,
I'm interested in 22lr BR...what size groups are you guys shooting at 50 yards? I have an old Walther 3p gun I used to shoot in high school...took it out for the first time in a while and shot it from the bench...it will still shoot a clean on the the 50yard NRA small bore target...is that enough to be competitive? That's on a cheap rest and still in the position stock...a better rest and a BR stock might make that better...
Thanks,
Ken

I'm a prone shooter, not BR, but with decent ammo in light wind you should put five rounds in one hole at 50 without a fancy rest or stock. Then work to shrink the hole.

The 50 yd. NRA smallbore target is pretty generous (made for position shooting). The X ring is roughly MOA and the 10 ring is 2 MOA. In IR 50-50 BR, the 10 ring is the diameter of a .22 bullet and the X ring is a very small dot. So whether you are competitive depends on how stiff the competition is.
