What to buy?

I tend to look around for something new, or something old. Just thought I'd try the 8.6 Blackout...3 twist barrel. It has to be ridiculous! Right? Well for me it turned out to be as ridiculous as I thought I'd be. Turns out it's basically a very limited cartridge subs only with standard bullets, ordered some all copper to give super sonic another try..
But their load data for super sonic regular jacketed bullets blow up right out of the muzzle and damaged the muzzle break and the Magneto Speed bayonet on the first shot. That was my new and different cartridge "to try", it was a learning experience for sure. And it shoots bullets that turn into a random shogun pattern at 10 feet. I wouldn't recommend it...but it's different.
The 1886 45-90 was fun and worthwhile, as the 6mm ARC AR 15 and SS Proff Research barrel...accurate... but the 6 mm Dasher 28" 7.5 twist target rifle and a long action 308 30" 8 twist target rifle are among my favorites. And 9mm AR carbine hand loaded...gets 1720 fps for 115 gr bullets, a fun 200 yd plinker, as and example. Then I have a 30" RUM project in the future. The 26" is complete, and modified 700 action to feed 4.020" 250 gr ATIPS, at 2985 fps...but the 30" should get 3100 fps for LR shooting. A 6 twist 223 is done & working on load development. And a another 222 rebarrel in the future. So, there are some of my try something new/ different projects.
Have fun...

Well, you could search for the right person, with a particular need or desire, and do something, or get something that would bless them. You will be blessed in the process.

To do this, requires great care and discretion so as not to cause waste or even harm by your altruistic act. jd

Well, I got into my first premium springer air rifle last year and have had blast. There is one other brand in that class. Well I wanted one in .22 so I ordered, none currently in the country, but it's coming. Next day was offered a Sig 365xl w/optic which is a lot lighter than my normal carry a 1911 Ultra Compact Sig for less than half price. A deal, had to buy it. So I have had zero trouble finding new toys.

Find a set of dies for a caliber you don’t have. And then research and find a gun to fit. Did this and wound up with dies for a 264 win mag and some brass from an auction. Started researching the caliber and different models it was produced in and started scouring the gun shows. Found an older custom built gun that was built on a Mauser action. It was uglier then a mud fence when I got it. Some sanding and hand rubbed oil and dialed in some loads. It shoots cloverleafs now and looks decent. I was a project that took about a year and half to put together after finding the dies.

Everyone should have a 10-shot .22 LR revolver. Accurate, reliable, low-cost ammo, no brass flying in someone's face. Shoot single-action, slow-fire for accuracy, or double-action for speed-shooting games.

S&W model 617 10-shot Revolver (4" and 6" models):

First, quit your job.
Get a super computer that will allow you to get instant alerts from any body that is remotely connected to the firearms components industry.
Monitor the alerts all day and night. The instant you se that a supply house just got in a shipment of the current “unobtanians”, be the first to click on and get your order in.

seriously, I like the Forum Bosses idea of a good 22 LR revolver. I swapped a Shilen action for a Colt Trooper a while back, and while It is just 6 shots, it is a pure joy to shoot.

What do you buy yourself for a new toy when there is nothing you’ve just got to have?

A new bolt rifle in a big 30? Another xp100 in something odd? An old single shot in some obscure obsolete caliber?

Howdy !

If you haven't gone this route' before..... why not have a full-custom rifle made ?

Better still.... you could go with a " wildcat " chambering.

You wouldn't have to go looking for " something ", but instead; build exactly what you want.

Gee.... it's easy to spend your money !
