What to build????

Phil,
+1 on 22brguy response, unless you do offer a goodly number of 400+ shots which seem not to be the case, and the 223AI ammo is cheeper - your son, as my 2 sons, will likely shoot more and in the process learn more -we tend to shoot less as we have become patient inour shooting as we have gotten older.

Thus the potential of higher volume shooting, i would suggest the 223AI as you have the longer distances well covered.

if still confused -- undecieded- will you adopt me?

Bob

Having been playing with the 22BR, my vote would naturally go in that direction. Not saying that I have not thought about an 223ai, but with having really great shooting 223's, it would be hard to to do an AI case.

fwiw, my opinion not everyones

lookin at the velocities, you can expect 3600+/- 100fps with each depending on bbl length.
-powder for the 223ai is around 4-5 gr less, brass is cheaper, but and must be formed, etc.

the 223AI should feed and br may or may not, if you want a repeater, the 223 is the better choice

the 22br would be better in a longer bbl

if you choose to step up in bullet weight the 22br will have an edge on the smaller case

the 223ai is usually accurate but not equal to the 22br

if you are intending to shoot 400+ yds i personally would go br

Couldn't say it much better. I own both. I tend to go to the BR but it won't feed out of the magazine well. If I'm going to shot a repeater I go for the 223ai

Unless you have a stash of 50 V's...go to the 53 V....

8-9 twist 223 AI.....53 V max and a formed case full of IMR8208

or Benchmark...turns furry things inside out a long ways away...

totally agree

Its the best Vmax hands down!

In the end it's your choice and they are both great cartridges. If it were me I would save the BR for heavy bullets and longer range. At 400 the AI is more than enough to get the job done. Unless you are looking for the splat factor :)
