what stock for barnard action.

Hi guys, doing my first build on a custom action.....im going to use the barnard p, and was hoping to get some input on stocks/chassis for this action. I like the feel of the vertical grip stocks....has anyone used gary elisio's chassis compared to the xlr? Or is there another composite out there thats more comfortable for long range prone shooting. I am not a competition shooter, i just want a nice action, and i enjoy shooting long range. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for your time.

Elisio makes a great stock. My Barnard is in one and I give it a thumbs up. Read German Salazar's article, it will explain most of your questions.

Gary's stocks are really good. Dollar for dollar any adjustable chassis stock will cost about the same. The Barnard P is larger in diameter than a Remington 700 so they do not fit in the same chassis. A lot depends upon how you are going to shoot. If you are a position shooter the adjustments of a tube stock that are available to a sling shooter are infinite. If it is strictly off a bi-pod or rest a wood or fiberglass stock, properly bedded, would work well. Master Class stocks are great laminate stocks and of course McMillan Stocks have a great reputation. I use McGee stocks but they have not been taking orders for some time. Barnard markets a couple but have not heard of any here in the States yet.

This is my Barnard PC dual port in an Eliseo chassis. I don't think you'll find a finer choice for a Barnard. It is very comfortable prone.

As mentioned, the Elesio tube/chassis gun systems are available in multiple configurations/colors-

My preference is a Robertson Composite/Warner Tool Co Prone stock w/ drafted action lug,WTC hand rail,WTC adj cheek,WTC 6 way adj butt & WTC combo sight/24min.scope rail.

McM & Manners aren't in the same ball park!!

Hard to beat the Eliseo platform... but, I just built a long range prone gun on a Barnard action.... went with a laminate stock from MasterClass (Alex Sitman).

Another excellent choice is the laminated stock from down under, as is the Barnard itself, by Mastin: http://www.6mmbr.com/catalog/item/1334860/1106772.htm
