What sells

Talked to a fellow who sells quite a few new rifles and a lot of new take-off barrels.

In varmint contours, he says that 204 Ruger and 223 Remington sell. The rest sit a while.

He was surprised that 22-250 Rem did not sell better given his understanding of their popularity and barrel life compared to the 223.

In sporter barrels, 243 Win sell. Others sit a while.

Promotes them all. But what moves off the shelf.

One data point. Interesting.

Well, in the DFW area, 30-06 you almost can't give away, and folks gobble up .270s. Evidently they see a big difference between the two at 1-200 yards that I can't see. Go to the show in Mesquite and be prepared to be told in great detail how a 30-06 just can't do what a .270 can do. As far as magnums go, 7RM runs the show too. I would have to agree that .204s are hard to find around; they get gone pretty quick. There is no shortage of .22-250s though. I don't know if its because the dealers order more .22-250s and fewer .204s or if it is faster sales. I have yet to see much to do with anything concerning shortmags there though. I was suprised. Common comments are that they won't do what the larger cases will do because they don't hold near as much powder. Its a great environment to learn all about LR shooting, accuracy and efficiency. <--,A JOKE!)

Personally have no experience with selling barrels, only buying barrels.

Does pricing the 22/250 reasonable mean pricing it less than the 223 Rem or 204 Ruger ?
