What rings on my Panda

Hi

I have just put in an order for my Kelby Panda microport action, have my Shehane Tracker in light french walnut/dark english walnut in the post.. jewell sitting here.. and then it struck me..
---------------------------RINGS ----------------------

What rings do I need to put on the action/rifle,MaxHV barrel 28") to shoot out to 1000yds?? The Panda of course has the dovetail made in the action... so what tapered rings do I need. Given that the scope is a 12-42*56 nightforce??

20 degree Kelby rings?? would that do it???

Also, just a question.. with that set up... can I get a 100yd zero???? Curious!

Thanks

PS These 6mmbr's better impress me, I got two on the way! lol
Thanks this forum for building my gun... lol again!

You can order your Panda with a 20 MOA milled base. For rings, Nimbus, Jewel, or Kelbly. They will have to fit a Davidson base.

So, without a milled base of 20moa, but using 20moa rings, will this get me out to the 1000yd?

I really do not want a milled base on my Panda because if it ever wound up doing short range stuff.

With the Kelby rings,20moa), should I go the double or single version? These rings will allow for clearance of a 12-42*56 nightforce?

Nice rilfe there....

Does Stiller make them in a polished version?? I'd think so!!

Also, I have read that with a Panda action and a nightforce scope,12-42*56), that the bolt hits the magnification winder?? This true? If so, should I order the action with a modified bolt design, or go for higher rings with 20MOA??

Is there anyone out there that has come across this problem??

Ackley,

On my Kelbly Grizzly II with Davidson bases and Kelbly double screw rings my bolt would hit the magnification ring above 36X on my NF 12-42. Sent it out to Jim Kelbly he ground the indentation some more and polished it and sent it back with a one day turn around. No big deal.

So, you have a davidson base on top of your dovetail, then the Kelby rings. This still didnt give clearence?

I should should inform Kelby that the scope to be used is a NIghtforce, and have them grind the bolt. How does the bolt look after the modification?

I emailed Stiller, and yes he said that with his 30mm rings a Nightforce scope and Panda bolt will miss.

Also, he will leave the rings in a raw state ie. not blued!

Has anyone tried Bill Shehane's rings? They appear to be a very nice piece of gear! http://www.scopeusout.com/

On the Grizzly II action which is stainless steel there is no dovetail, hence the need for the Davidson bases.
And yes after the regrind no one could tell the difference, even under a magnifying glass!

I have decided on looking into the SG&Y rings that are made for the Kelbly actions.

They are quarter inch higher, which should solve the problem of the bolt handle hitting the magnification ring!

Just a question.. does anyone know how to get in contact with SG&Y? Have sent email and left a question at his website.

AI--rings are not blued--they are hard annodized.

just have to wait on email from speedy i guess.

Bill's rings should do fine as well

I have decided to get the bolt handle modified on the Panda action to suit the nightforce!! Then I can go with the Kelbly rings.......... easier!!!!!
