What Reticles do the Short-Range BR Shooters Prefer?

I shoot RFBR, so 50 yards or meters. That's pretty short range! Reticles are a personal preference, and mine is the floating dot reticles. NF, DDR2.....March, MTR-2.....Vortex, ECR-1. A fairly large NF distributor once told me that crosshairs and dot was his best seller, and DDR2 was his second best seller.

Most of my 2 dozen BR scopes have a fine crosshair and dot. I use mostly a 3/32 dot to be exact. I do have a couple of just plain crosshair reticles. I don't mind them but I prefer a dot of some sort. I have a few scopes with an 1/8 dot and I only use that size dot at 2 and 300 yards or meters.

^^^^^^When I finally used a dot in 2005, I never realized how fast my eye centered on the target.

My march has a fine crosshairs with a 3/32 dot.

second that. Gonna send my march in over the winter for a crosshair/dot LR reticle. Maybe I’ll get one extra flag in there
Dan I've owned a raised reticle for 10 out of my 11 years shooting. It's a nice reticle but I developed tunnel vision using that scope with getting more flags inside the scope because it made me forget about the closest ones. Now I just keep both eyes open and see all the flags whether it's 4 at 100 or 6 at 2 & 3. To me it's pretty useless in short range score since you can see all the flags just by keeping both eyes open.

I’ve never had a raised reticle but I’ve looked through one. I think it would take some getting use to.

I’ve used fine crosshair only, crosshair with dot and a floating dot. Can’t say I have a preference but since my aim point is center of the mothball I think the dot is nice.

A 3/32 dot seems like the goldilocks size for me.

I use March's MTR-2. It has about the smallest dot you can get, and
the hash marks to either side, and underneath help you to bracket
the target when things get fuzzy......

Damn Al, I thought it was just me and my distorted mind...o_O

First snow yesterday, 3"

You still chasing coyotes?

5 NF’s, 2 Leupolds, all with fine CH and dots.
The Leupolds are 1/8, the NF are 3/32 which as mentioned above seems just right. YMMV
