What primers in 6x47 Lapua?

I was wondering what primers that 6x47 shooters are using in the 6x47 Lapua with 107-108 bullets.

Thanks,

Chris

I've done what I consider to be a great deal of research on this issue. While most primers will serve very well in this case, day in and day out the 450 CCI is the most consistent.

The Wolf Russian Small Rifle Magnum primers are very good too, so are CCI BR-4's and Rem 7 1/2 BR's.

I along with a few others have found that the Russian SRM primer will get the job done in fine fashion, and lots cheaper than the CCI's will....

I would go with Federal Match primers ever time.

If you are shooting lighter loads they're usually fine but the cup metal is thinner on the Federals and that can be a problem with that cartridge in certain rifles with certain loadings.

Robert, thats interesting. I have no experience with the 6.5X47 Lapua case, but lots of experience running loads in the 65,000psi to 70,000psi range in Lapua's 220 Russian and BR cases. Most of that shooting has been done with 205's and of course it has been the primer of choice for most BR shooters for years, with no problems. My experience with high pressure loading leads me to believe that the action, firing pin, and bolt fit has more affect on primer blanking than the primer itself. I've never blanked a primer in one of my BAT actions, but have blanked quite a few in sloppier fitting actions with even lighter loads.

What do you attribute the primer problems for this particular chambering to? I know some of the Hunter Class BR guys are opening the flash holes of the case to help with ignition when they neck up to 30cal. Are others trying this when using the case as a 6.5 or even 6mm?
