Bought a used Kelbly Atlas chambered in 284 and I have read about every post on here. Wealth of information on this site. See a couple primers listed but wondering what your using.
In the vein of Rdavie’s post, if the pockets open up but you want to add more life to your cases try the Sellier and Bellot primers; S&B primers have the tightest fit of any primer I’ve used. They worked well in the 6.5 x55 Imp case with RL-23.
S&B for me. Unfortunately they are made of unobtanium and have disappeared from the world market.

Wow! Sorry to hear that. For 7 RSAUM the S&B is my go to primer! For those who aren't aware ; S&B stopped importing all primers into the U.S. several years ago . And when any available supply is gone , it's gone . Which could have occurred by now . I ran out of SRP's a year ago , and still have one box of 1,000 LRP's left .
Did they give any reason? Poor sales?I called S&B in Minnesota because I wanted to get accurate info on both the primers , and 54r cases . The person in Sales and Marketing gave me what I posted , and it busted my chops too . They were my "go-to" also , for two different rifles . What ya gonna do ?![]()
Didn't know 185s or 200s were made for the .284. Finally making heavier .284 bullets.I went back to the Winchester LRP for my M-N Open rifle , and had to drop a couple tenths off the load , but got excellent results also , with both a 185 OTM , and the 200 Hybrid . Now ; If I could just learn to read the wind a little better at 1,000 .![]()
Please re-read S-L-O-W-L-Y .......I was referencing the primer usage in my M-N ( Mosin - Nagant ) Open rifle . As were those referencing 30 / 06 rifles . That's all . Sorry you got confused .Didn't know 185s or 200s were made for the .284. Finally making heavier .284 bullets.
