What powder for 6mmRem?

Im shooting the Hornady 105HPBT and was wondering what ya'll are using for powder is working very well with this bullet or similar bullets?

Think my twist is 1 in 10 in my BSA 6mm Remington rifle. Tried the 105 hornady Amax in mine with two or three powders, various grain loads. Lucky if I had a 3" 100 yd group. Buckshot would have grouped better. Gave my remaining bullets to a gent with a 6XC that loves the 105 Amax in it. Decent groups with the BSA when I used 55 or 75 grain bullets.

Might considering giving a try to at or about 28.1 grs of RL15. I shoot a 1:8 twist Savage and was getting in the high .2's and low 3's yesterday shooting 107 Sierra Matchkings @ 100 yds yesterday.

Just for clarification, the 6mm Remington is not the same as a 6mmBR (I'm not sure but I think Shynloco may be thinking of the 6mmBR). 6mm Rem has more capacity. Hodgdon is showing starting 6mm Remington load with 107gr Sierra MK and Varget (similar burn range to RL15) as 34.0 grains.

I agree with other that H4350 would be a good load for 105-107gr class bullets. In 6mm Remington cartridge, Hodgdon shows starting load of 40.0 grains of H4350 with 105gr Hornady Amax, 2.825" COAL.

The best results for me is with IMR 4350. Start at 40 grains and increase at 0.2 grain intervals. My rifle likes 43.5 grains and the 105 A-Max bullets around 0.010 off the lands measured with a RCBC precision micrometer. With this load the throat has grown 0.028 from 430 firings.

I've had good results with both H4831SC and N165 with the 105 range of bullets.
Also my rifle likes Reloader 17 with 105 A max.
Cheers

Just a little history. The 6mm Remington came out in 1954-55 to compete with the Winchester .243. The extra case capacity and the longer necks made it a superior cartridge as far as velocity and accuracy over the .243 Winchester. In the late 1950's and early 1960's the 6mm Remington and the .222 Remington were considered to best choice for accuracy. The .243 Winchester began to edge out the 6mm Remington in the 1970's, due to the availability of surplus .308 brass.
Over the years I can't say how many rifle I have chambered in the 6mm Remington, 6mm Ackley Improved. Now the .243Win, and the .243 Ackley Improved are very popular. I beleive John Whidden has proved the .243 Winchester to be a great cartridge.

Just finished a custom build with a 30 inch Krieger HV barrel and 1-8TW in the 6mm Remington. Tried some Ramshot Hunter with the CCI 250 primers and got consistent 3-shot groups @100yds that measured 1/4 inch. Barrel just getting broke in so I plan on going out a little further after the next 25-30 rds. Start low and work up. This cartridge will shoot along with the 6BR and 243AI. I was impressed.
