What not to let a gunsmith do

Just a stick in the eye for a so called gunsmith..... Recently had a stock built and bedded for my 40X action light 1000 yd rifle. After many delays and lies when it would be done, I missed the season and world open. The bedding was horrible and when I tightened the stock screws the trigger would not set. Gunsmith was fired the day I picked up my stuff. Morel of the story is...... spend a little more and use a well known smith. You won't have to spend money twice.

AWFUL.

Sorry for your extremely disappointing experience.

I've seen some botched bedding jobs, but that might be the worst given the simplicity of what we was working with.

Brother just because they have a popular name does not mean they do good work.I have reworked three barrels done by such fellows in the last month and the work was terrible !!!

tuttle,
I don't know what to say other than "oh my!" that looks horrible...
I hope you did not have to pay. I hope it gets fixed soon for you.
cheers,
doc

Gunsmith?
I bet there are hundreds of guys on this forum that have done 1000% better
bedding jobs in there basements / garage /kitchen table.
Sorry to see things like that happen.

Looks nice compared to a rifle I purchased online a few years back. Seller said it "might" need to be rebeded. You think. I happened to have the same Boyd's stock for comparison. I was in shocked.

Wow, guess bedding at home isn't such a problem after all... Lets see, Fill it up with lots of bubbles right?

Never fired a shot, trigger would not set when I tightened the receiver screws, I guess that is why the gunsmith left them only slightly snug when I picked up the rifle.

Maybe we should set up a "Hall of Shame" category for defective gunsmithing work.
