What Next for Remington & Rem 700?

For decades, the Rem-700 has been the industry standard. Most aftermarket products. Even other actions where made to fit it's footprint, and be compatable with it's triggers, scope mounts etc.... I know used ones will be plentiful for some time, but since there will be no more, what production guns do you think will evemtually end up filling the void?

YES I THINK THE ROUNDHILL GROUP IS LOOKING TO BUY REMINGTON

I'm in the winter of my shooting life so it's of little consequence to me personally but for the sake of younger shooters / hunters, let's hope that the 700 makes a come back maybe with three design changes - 1. return to the old style triggers, 2. change the extractor design to a Sako style, 3. add a bedding system like Savage or Ruger which allows for free floating the barrel. A more stable stock would help too.

The Tikka's are great rifles, I have several. My only compliant is that the T3X's standard lite models are too light in weight for cartridges over 243 but that's just my personal opinion. I like a rifle weight of 7 1/2 lbs. in standard deer cartridges and a barrel of 24" in those cartridges that work best with slow burning powders such at the 270 Win.

Hmm. This just off the presses: https://www.uticaod.com/story/news/...-negotiating-over-ilion-operation/6771080002/

On one hand, from this reporting, it seems they are moving forward but some statements from the Roundhill group seem to sound 'odd'.
The last paragraph of that article seems where the differences lie. The new owners don’t want agree to certain pre bankrupty labor agreements. Those are an operating expense that the new owners certainly don’t want to take on the books. Those obligations would certainly cut into your OCF.

It's like the Chevrolet and the Corvette. As long as Remington is making guns there will be a 700.
