what length are you?

Are you a 28, 30, 32 or 33+ inch barrel type of person?

I know most guys will use 28-30" for their 6mm variants like a 6 Dasher, 6BR, 6BRX, 6BRDX, etc.

I am currently using 32" straight barrels for my 7mm, but was thinking about switching to 30" to get a slightly stiffer barrel.

Barrel length on what?

On target and varmint rifles, I usually wind up going with whatever usable length I can get out of a standard blank, which is usually about 27 1/2 inches.

On hunting rifles, I tend to go a bit longer than "normal". I have a few at 26", the rest at 24".

Mountain or prarie hunting, long is great, if your not in a vehicle. Brush country where i live ? 22 is to long. Most of mine are 20 or less. I'm a short ,fat barrel kinda guy

I hunt typical PA woods, hardly mountain or prairie, or Texas style sendero hunting ftom tripods, with lots of places that you are bent over to get through the brush, interspersed with typical farm fields.

A typical shot around here is 75-100 yards, with a 200 yard opportunity being considered long, and rarely encountered.

I've never felt handicapped by a longer barrel, and prefer the balance and feel of the longer barrels when I need to take an off-hand shot.
