What kind of spotting scope stand is this?

I was looking over the Bulletin today and saw a partial photo of a spotter using a rather large spotting scope. What really caught my eye was the spotting scope stand he was using. Could be a homemade stand but not sure.

Anyone know what it is?

There have been many versions of those heads/stands over the years that have come and gone with newer versions replacing them. Two that come to mind and are very similar to your picture are available from Creedmoor Sports and Gary Elisio/Competition machine. I have a first generation from Creedmoor Sports that I believe is an early version of Elisio's that he likely subcontracted to them. There have been others I've seen but don't recall at the moment who made or supplied them.

Close to the ground for light loads a cantilever would work great. . I think there are probably two legs holding that monster up and six feet.

Go to any target-centric smallbore shop and you should get some examples. I'd suggest ChampChoice.com and Creedmoor Sports to start with. May not be exactly what you're looking for, but they'll be close.

I have the Creedmoor sports one and I wish the poles were made of heavy steel instead of hollow aluminum. It would be rock solid if it was.

You can also get some pretty substantial lightweight Heavy Duty camera tripod stands ,with 15-50 lb. payloads in the $80.00 range more substantial units run $120.00 but will support a small elephant .

Camera tripods were designed to be STABLE and have Great platform mounts and most certainly will come up too eye level .

I run the Pole Cat 1 inch model. Perfect for heavy scopes in the wind. Look at Creedmoor Sports.
