What it's like moving a reloading room

In 2018, I moved mine from the cold, damp basement to the dining room and it was the best move I ever made especially since my body is racked with arthritis.

I had to secure the wife's approval which she graciously consented. I just wonder how many wives would have agreed to that! But Mary was special. She even brought me a Weatherby Super Varmint Master back in 2009!

Moving is a big effort and you find things long lost and/or forgotten. But the one thing I focused on during my last two moves was eliminating everything from my inventory that wasn’t being used. They were donated to those just starting their trek down the rabbit hole!

In the process of moving my reloading room but only about 15' from where it is right now. Going from 1/2 of a bay in my shop to a 12' X 20' addition onto the back of the shop which was originally a lean-to shed and served as a shooting area. Once I am moved my shooting bench and reloading bench will sit side-by-side as this is the main reason for the move.

I'm in the process of moving all reloading equipment and components from my man cave in walk out basement to my shop.

Doing it as I need the stuff so not too bad....load up six wheeler, drive it over, and store it away in dedicated bench, cabinets and drawers.

Converting case reforming from Rock Chucker/Dillon 550 to 100% Dillon 650 and 1500 trimmer. Shoulda done it years ago.....hmmm maybe a 1050's in my future.

We've been remodeling the basement ("Man Cave") for two years! Just now able to get down the stairs. A bad knee prevented me from going downstairs until we put two rails in, and the wife cleared some "stuff" out of the way. I'm finding dies, brass, shells, etc. for guns I sold years before!

In short, GOOD LUCK!!!

Moved from Wisco to Arizona 13 years ago. Had a great mover, made all of the difference. Most of the stuff just stayed put in the cabinets.
Like sandstorm said, you move all of stuff then you sell it! Still selling stuff I have moved and never used!!
Had a garage sale and had bricks of .22's for $10 that never sold.

My sympathies!!!
Suggest getting a Gorilla & Two 900 pound MFers to Help moving, you will probably find components that you have been looking for; or stuff you forgot you had.lol
So far, found 15+ gun cases in nearly new condition. Brass and loaded ammo for guns I don't have any more (348 Win, 41 LC, 45 AR, 32 Win Spl, 454 Casull, 32 acp, 380 acp, 338 Win Mag and more to come, I'm sure!). Found my Contender & 3 barrels, an 1885 Hi-Wall (Navy Arms?) in 405 Win (load for 40-65 Sharps), a Kodiak dbl muzzleloader in 54, a German STG-44 clone in 22 long rifle, a Gamo air rifle, and a shotgun I haven't gotten to yet!:D:eek::D (Happy Dance)!!!

I have moved my reloading room twice now. Once from a cold damp basement to a new place with a finished basement, but went from a whole basement to a 10x8' room. The second move was to an unfinished room in the basement of the next place. Its 20'x12' or so. It was quite a lot of stress and the guns, components, and ammo took up more space moving than the rest of my stuff. I will do it one more time, but I'm not looking forward to the stress.

I have moved mine a couple times. The most painful was when I replaced my bench 20+ years ago.

I set most things to the side, to get enough room to remove/replace it. When the new one was installed, I picked up my Rockchucker and the ram came up forcefully impaling my middle finger on the decap pin on the size die I had left in the press.
There is a round white scar in the center of the tip of my finger, reminding me to think before I act.

Got a few of those scars!

So far, several 100 rnd. boxes of 45 Colt (including one with BP), 41 mag (lite & bear loads), 41 LC and 454 (going to my son-in-law).

The shotgun (which I had forgotten I had) was a Stevens 311 in good to very good shape. My first shotgun was a Savage 312, and they have always pointed very well for me! Now, I need another GSP and some pheasant!
