What Is Your Favorite Place to Shoot?

Living in a densely populated city makes it mandatory to belong to a shooting club with a range. It also has concrete benchs for benchrest shooting, making it easier to sit down or get up.

the only drawback about shooting in the middle of nowhere aka the boonies is if there is an accident it would take ems forever to get there. of course how often does that happen?

This is my favorite groundhog shooting spot.

500yd to point of woods on Lt side of pic. Far Lt edge of woods is @ 1,000yd.r

Dark green area winding through pic towards woods is a substantial, deep ditch that groundhogs burrow into consistently every year.

2.5 miles from my house

Pawnee Grasslands - desolate and peaceful, but windy. Always windy!

You get used to it. Living in the "boonies". I'm an hour away from 911 services. Bad weather and nobody comes. There is a feeling of satisfaction being self reliant....Oh, I shoot to a mile off my front deck.

For those who enjoy having long range shooting locations out away from everyone, do you miss the pleasure of the BS that takes place at a club?

We have a lot of that here, BS that is.
Honestly, I do enjoy it and it gives me an opportunity to learn from others.

Having the open space to shoot I'm sure has it's advantages too, like getting true wind flag readings and not dealing with turbulent wind from the various posts and bullet deflectors necessery in the city.

Not at all, there are 3 or 4 of us that shoot together regularly. We learn from each other and there is no shortage of BS either. It’s definitely safer than going to the public range down the road where there have been accidents and close calls. Just my experience

Belong to a club that goes to 500. I can go 300 on my own place. There are mines here I can shoot on with various distances. I don't really miss shooting with others but do like a little competition now and then.
