What is your favorite bullet, and why?

I am just curious to see what bullet is preferred and why? I want to see how many people like standard cup and core bullets as well as bonded, partitioned, and the like.

Thank you

For what purpose?

For target shooting I prefer Lapua Scenars. They are very consistent and accurate!

For hunting, I like Nosler Accu-Bonds and Ballistic Tips, and if larger, heavy boned game is on the menu, Partitions. I have used Nosler Bullets almost exclusively for hunting since I started handloading, with the one exception of bringing 208 A-Max's by mistake. Nosler bullets have performed consistently well for me, and many of my friends as well.

Target shooting, whatever the gun prefers. A-Max's, SMK's and Beger's all perform well in certain circumstances.

I do plan to try some Lapua Scenars soon, as I hear a lot of people have good luck with them.

Any bullet no matter what color box it comes in that shoots into the same hole. The elusive one I'm looking for is a bullet that leaves residual magnetism in the hole, and sucks subsequent bullets into the same hole, even if they were not pointed there in the first place!

For hunting Whitetails and up Nothing else other than a Nosler Accubond, or Partition bullet! Target shooting, or comp? Berger all the way! With that said and I am not one to be closed minded, but I truely believe in Berger bullets for Targets. I'm about to try out the berger hunting bullets on some doe"s this year! So I may switch from Nosler to Berger if they perform as well as I'm told? Varmints!! If my barrel want shoot the vmax or blitzking then I'll probably switch barrels before I will bullets!!!!!!

3x What ever shoots best in my gun,,,and my shooting purpose.
Currently;
Nos Ballistic tip in the 223
Barnes TTSX in the 708
Nosler Accubonds in the 308,,for hunting
Sierra Matchking in the 308 for target

You really need to just start trying different bullets, and feed it what it likes,,as you gain more experiance the choices are easier.
It's interesting to start loading to save a few $$ and get better ammo,,
,,only to find out it's a bottomless money pit!! :D

p.s.,,I'm in St.Cloud

I like speer hotcors for hunting. The 90gn in my .243 and the 150gn Magtip in my .308 Norma. Simple and effective on thin skinned game.

For hunting, Swift A-Frames, Woodleigh Weld Cores, TBBCs whichever the particular rifle/cal shoots best. All 3 have a WIDE range of velocity uses and RELIABLE upsets .

Accbonds and win PEP's for whitetails in my .25 bore BT's in most everything else because they are accurate and work. MK's on paper and crows, varmints. Above all what shoots good in each rifle.

A Max are awesome for the cost, they can hold their own against the more expensive bullets oftentimes.

The Berger VLDs are just sweet at long range, so are Lapua Scenars. The 123 Grain Scenar is one of my favorite bullets.

I don't hunt with a rifle, only a pistol, bow or ML. If it's a pistol it's the .45 cal 250 gr Hornady XTP. For Palma and LR/MR target shooting it's JLK all the way. You can look long and hard, but never find a bullet that will match the consistency of the JLK line of bullets. I shoot them in 6mm 105 & 115gr. 6.5mm 130 & 140gr and recently "Swampy" has prototyped a .30 cal. 155 for Palma shooters and a 180 gr. Long Boat Tail. (LBT). These bullets require no bearing surface comparators, just load and shoot. Steve, (Swampy) is a real pleasure to deal with, and if you buy some of his bullets in the above calibers and they don't shoot for you, feel free to contact me for a quick sale.
I hope this helps,
Lloyd

i love the a-maxs. they are as accurate as many target bullets and deadly on game. i do advocate trying a bunch and seeing what your gun likes but if i could only have one bullet other than for dangerous game the a max would be it.
