Customer brought it in last week, no one in my store knew what it might be.

It is made from 8630w cast iron. Doubt its a gun part. Probably some type of plumbing part or stove part if i was guessing

It would work for a figure 8 descender for rappelling, but the 2nd picture makes me think that isn't what it's for, the edges are to sharp.

Shoulda stuck a quarter in pic for scale I guess. Part's roughly 5" long, 4" wide, maybe 1" deep.

On another forum someone's posted John Deere made a W8630 tractor so I'm leaning that way right now.

My guess it's to hold bearings / gaskets / seals of some kind into their respective bores yet allow access for shafts / hose connections. We'll see....

I googled the number and came up with nothing. I'm assuming that it's a drawing number. I was common for military parts to be labeled with drawing numbers. Anyone have access to the MCRL?
