I shipped some ammo about a year or so ago via ups. It's easier I think to cut out the middleman when possible aka ups store.

If you can print out your own label thru the ups website and schedule a pickup at your residence you can avoid the hassle of dealing with so called "customer" service.

As far as I recall you will need to print and attach former orm-d now called "limited quantity" tag prior to shipping. Hopefully others with a more recent xp will chime in.

Yes it has to ship from UPS hub or schedule a pickup from home. Approximately $ 13. Attach the above label which you can print off the internet

UPS hub in our area closed and will not accept packages, forcing you to have to use a UPS store, which is crock of crap. I went through hell with trying to ship some ammo.

No, you can actually give it to any ups driver when they deliver a package to your house or wherever you see a big brown truck out and about. I do it all the time. You just cant take it to a UPS store... Print your own label, affix the necessary labels and give to a UPS driver. Just say I have an outgoing package can you take it. They do every single time.

Schedule a pickup and give it to a driver or just give it to a driver that is delivering to your house already or just one that you see.

Scheduling an actual pickup cost money. I have a designated door/location on my account (rear door) they HAVE to deliver all UPS packages. I then leave outgoing packages there with a sticky on them that says OUTGOING UPS.. Been doing it for many years. They take them every time.

I have also just pulled up to a brown truck delivering to a business or house and said hi I missed my pickup can you take this UPS outgoing. Sure he scans it and puts it in the truck..

so how do you pay for shipping if you just give it to a driver

There are many ways. Setup a free online account with UPS.com.. Print your own label and pay for it right online in your UPS account, slap it on a package...

Can setup a stamps.com acct, shippo, many different ways to get a UPS account that you can pay to ship UPS, USPS, Fedex on a per shipment basis and print out your own labels...

The ORM-D packages might not go like that. My ammo shipments always get delivered by a different truck than usual. But the last time the guy dropping off said “boy that’s heavy” and I said “yeah it’s marked ammunition “ and he had no idea. So I’m sure it depends on the driver.

UPS stores are private franchises and the franchise owner can mostly do whatever they want, which is to avoid every possible thing they might find even slightly annoying. Or they cheaped out on their business insurance and their policy says no guns or ammo on their premises. Its usually a money or insurance thing it seems.

The ORM ( Otherwise Regulated Material ) packages are not Haz Mat, so you don't need to be Haz Mat certified or have the paper work that they need, just need the diamond sticker.
As long as it has a proper shipping label or a ARS label (Automatic Return Service )
Good to go. Any driver should pick it up anytime.

It 100% goes like that. my UPS shipments have come from the same truck and same driver for many years no matter what it is, including ammo. They don't send out a seperate truck because you ordered ammo..

I went to the MAIN station today and when I asked about shipping 22 ammo both reps pointed to a sign that stated AMMO CAN NOT BE LEGALLY SHIPPED. ???????????????

Yesterday I just received test lots via UPS. Had the diamond sticker on it and my regular UPS guy/truck delivered it. If I order a case or two after testing, it will come the same way and my driver will say "must be getting ready for the new season". I haven't shipped any ammo for some time. Ammo I want to sell I take to my club I MD at and the informal shooters buy whatever I have.
