What is the correct method for rear bag riding

Question , Should the stock of a gun riding in the rear bag ride on the ears and the bottom between the ears ? Or just on the sides on the ears .

Both my F-Open guns ride on the bag with slightly soft ears. Both hold very good vertical. Other folks swear by the ears. Try it both ways and see what works for you. My preference or anybody else's doesn't mean squat to you if it doesn't work.
