What is the best Rear Bag to use.

I have an old Bald Eagle I've used for 20+ years. What should I replace it with?

Look at Protekor or Edgewood bags. Thats the best on the market.

There is no "best". But there are several good alternatives. Decide the height, and the width between the ears (the bag's ears, not yours), and then decide on the material (leather vs. cordura vs. microfiber).

Some of the bigger bags, when filled with zircon or other heavy sand, are a real PITA to move around. As in from the car to the bench.

Protektor makes a good, reasonably-priced product. Edgewood makes a top-notch, beautifully-crafted product. Hoppes makes a crappy, inexpensive product.

Can I pile on?? Distance between the ears..... the width of stock plus or minus what?? Some gap, no gap. She who must be obeyed says, I have plenty of open space between the ears. ???

Why do you feel it needs to be replaced? The ORIGINAL Bald Eagle Bags are second to none. In fact a 20 year old is a young pup compared to some of the B.E. bags still being used in 100- 300 yard registered BR competition by several well known shooters who have earned Bronze, Silver, and Gold Jackets.

I have one Edgewood bag, quality no doubt, but I run SEB bags, way cheaper, seems like more models to choose from, and driving up the street to Ernie's house to get one, probably seals the deal.

I like the protektor DR bag. If you are lazy like me you can have them fill with regular or heavy sand for an additional charge.

I've become fond of an adjustable mono pod. But one of the small Caldwell bags has never done me wrong.

I think the formula for ear spacing is to have it 1/4" narrower than the bottom of the butt stock, ie. 1/8" narrower on each side for good tracking. Correct me if my math is off you other more experienced.
