What is that ring in the chamber

Its a belief of mine that a short brass ( continually) will create a turbulent zone behind the base of the bullet and while the bullet is being engraved this turbulent gas erodes the barrel in a groove . I dont always see a ring but when I do you can see the flame cutting . I dont know the correct term Im looking for , kinda imagine a rocket taking off and the thrust is in a vortex ?
That’s interesting and I always wondered about the crack between the case mouth and chamber. There usually is one even if very small.

I have absolutely no idea what the micron size of JB or IOSSO are. The diamond paste is like a tiny container of grease that you can't feel any grit in it is so fine. This is not a general cleaning tool. I was just suggesting it for the specific situation.

Ok thanks

Years ago I read in a Precision Shooting magazine that JB was finer than 600 grit lapping compound. They said--under a microscope I guess--you could see the JB marks inside of the 600 grit lapping compound.

Be careful with Iosso. Several of us have seen increased throat erosion when using Iosso frequently, where as we haven't seen that with JB. However, nothing will clean up a heavily fouled barrel faster that Iosso with Iosso brand hard nylon brushes.

With respect to JB versus Iosso, see the discussion here for more info:

Thanks for that. I do try to limit my use of iosso. Like you say when I really need to clean it though iosso and a nylon brush.
