what is everyone using with 105 hybrids in 243?

I have tried the 105 Hybrid in .243 with the following powders:
IMR 7977- Decent velocity and accuracy, poor extreme spreads
H-1000, excellent accuracy and es, velocity a little slow, excellent temp stability.
RL-26, very high velocity , good accuracy when in the velocity window, very poor temp stability makes it hard to stay in the velocity window.
H-4350, good velocity, great es numbers, excellent accuracy. Temp stability has been great.

I am currently focusing on H-4350 because it is easy to keep in tune but I may revisit the RL-26 this fall when the temps cool off a bit.

I was using Rl26 with the hybrids with great results. Consistently under 0.5moa. Velocity was great with no pressure signs. I can't comment on the temp stability.

Good luck
Ross

H-4831 and RL-25

H-4831 is always accurate.

RL-25 is extremely accurate but I don't have a steady supply therefore I stick with H-4831 most of the time.

43 gr H-4831 (this load has been very accurate in all my past and present 243win's)

46.4 gr RL-25

Also have loads with Retumbo and H-1000.

48.2 gr Retumbo

45.9 gr H-1000

John whidden won several 1000 yds using N 160 and 105 grs Berger hybrids.I really like the N 165 with a long barrel of course.

I think getting the freebore right is key in shooting 105s well from the 243,,,,I had Tim chamber a min SAAMI spec 243 ,,then run his throater in deep enough that the 105 VLD-H orange box bullets could be seated above the neck shoulder junction and have .020 jump,,with the 105 VLDH seated like this the COAL was 2.835

I tried RL26, H1000, Retumbo and RL25 trying to find a slower powder that would shoot like I wanted,,I wound up at 42.2 grs H4350 and CCI 200 primers at 3225 fps and extremely stable load with no crazy spikes or pressure in heat or with a hot barrel,,

it was a real performer at 1,000 yards on the 10 inch gong and I could stay on my 5.5x8 inch head shot gong with this load better than any rifle I have owned,,

I hit 3400 fps with RL26 but I could not keep it in tune and if I got the bbl hot it would ruin primer pockets in one shot,,and the next node down with it was at 3200 so I just shot 4350 ..

N160, cool burning and excellent accuracy. Better barrel life compared to H-4350. Can get to 3200 pretty easy with a long barrel

Agree with all above on RL26 except for guy that loves it lol
H1000 great but slow
Currently working with 4831sc 3200ish 30" tube

I've been shooting a 243 win. in 1000 yard competition this year. Lapua brass, 44.0gr R22 powder, 105gr Berger Hybrids with CCI BR2, 3050 velocity.

I will claim the 5th on how much H1000 I have used with the 105 VLDH bullets in the 243 with the long throat,,I will say that load took 42 MOA to get on the 18 inch gong at 1330 yards from a 100 yard zero,,from 1,050 out the H1000 load shoots better than the H4350 load but I rarely shoot the 243 bbl that far,,

My last 243 and 107's it loved Retumbo! but I had to use Winchester brass to get enough in there to get velocity, my current 243 I'm using 4831SC and not really pushing it but getting respectable accuracy with Berger 105's. I've never used H1000 BUT if the 300WM doesn't like it I may give it a try :) Later,

Kirk

Which node?

I went through a 26" 8 twist barrel with a nice mild 2920fps load with the 105hybrid. 40.5gr H4350, cci br2, Remington cases, 2.8" oal. Still shoots great groups after 1600 rounds but velocity variation (sd went from 10 to 30) has made it unpredictable past 600.
