WHAT IS BARREL LIFE EXPECTANCY OF THE .20 CALS?

What .20 caliber has the highest life expectancy. In particular the .204, 5.35smc,20 vartag..20 tactical etc. I just bought a switch barrel f-class savage with a .308/5.35smc barrels. The .20 shoots extremely accurate,holes at a hundred and in the 1's at 200 etc. I think it is overbore due to the case diameter. But since I own it I must at least try it. It came with lots of fireformed brass and berger bullets. I am curious if anyone has owned and shot this unusual 5.35smc case before.

I have a CZ 457 in .204 Ruger with just about 350 rounds through it. The throat is burned but not wasted as yet. Had the shoulder set back .100" to allow a shorter jump into the lands. Accuracy is good (not as good as yours though) as long as I polish the throat every couple of hundred rounds or so. Can't see it going beyond 600-700 rounds at this point. Perhaps the factory hammer-forged barrel doesn't wear as well as a stainless custom?

My Savage 12VLP in .204 Ruger has had 2,702 shots down the stainless steel factory barrel and still shooting quite well. It does show some throat cracking, but I think it will be good enough to go for another 1,000 rounds with proper attention to keeping it from getting too hot.

A few yrs ago I had Pac Nor rechamber a 204R tube I had...
I ran approx 2500+ rds out of it in p/dog fields......
It is now a 20 Vartarg at 25 3/4" finished length..heavy tube
12 twist 3 groove.......still going strong with approx 4K rds out
What a sweetheart cartridge right out to 500 yds with a 40 V max........ ;D
