What Is A Good Velocity For 6mm 105's and 115's

I am shooting a 6XC A 1-8 twist 26" and a 1-7 twist 26"
I have a load for my 1-8 twist with a 105 at 3,150 FPS works good happy with it.
My 1-7 twist shooting 115 HVLD's I can get 3,150 FPS and can even get it to shoot there but is hard on brass.. I seem to have a accuracy node around 2,950 FPS with a few powders BUT I was kind of hoping for 3,050 but with the 26" tube I can get it but it can be hard on brass.

Just wondering what kind of velocity you have got in your 6 bore with a 105 and mostly what you got with a 115 and how it performs at that speed for you?

Something to consider is using Palma brass (small primer) for some extra strength. It would be a real bonus to get another 150fps and the increase in BC with the 115s. A friend is working down brass now, leaving the necks long and will be chambering an XC and reaming necks to near .400 long. All of this from Palma brass. Once he wrings this out, a reamer will be ordered - depending on results.

My Dasher with a 30'' tube shoots very well at 3070 with 105 bullets.
With N550 3120 shot good also..
The problem I had with it was it didn't like temeture changes . Larry

I am not in a powder box I will shoot what ever works but I would like a decent speed. Just so you know I think what happened was I weight sorted 50 cases worked up some loads on them and they must of had a little more volume so it took more powder to make pressure I switched to some new cases and they are making pressure at lower powder charges. I have been playing with RL26 I think it is looking a little temperature sensitive. I really want you to know the targets I am going to show you the big groups are all me shooting poorly pluss condition were bad for small groups even at 100 yards. But after much testing I belive the poor groups are just me not the loads or rifle but the velocity is not me I have verified my chrony readings with a magnetospeed once and it is always 15-20 FPS faster. So just some poor shooting on my part with bad condition...It will shoot and once in awhile I will get good numbers but I can never duplicate them. Kind of lost here..at 30 deg F 45.0 was 3,090 in a hole at 200 yards, at 40 deg F 45.0 was low 3,100's to 3,150 FPS and HOT no heavy bolt lift or ejector marks but a click at the top of the bolt lift. Backed off to 44.5 and at 65 deg F was about the same as 45.0 load..do I keep backing off to try and find a stable load ? Could I be doing something wrong in my loading process ? THE powder shoots and produces good velocity at lower pressure.
Do I abandon it ? Any Ideas ? shot at 100 yards because the 200 backer was down and I really just want to see the numbers as I know it shoots.
this is a 1-7 twist and a Berger 115 HVLD

Or do I back it off to 2,950 and be happy if it shoots well.
I would like 3,050 to 3,090 as it seems there is a sweet spot there. I can get that speed today but it seems the next day I cant it is slower or faster. I never had this kind of trouble with the 1-8 with the 105's. so I wonder.

I do not have a Gem Pro..I am going to get one in the next month..But using a RCBS 10-10 then on to a old RCBS Powder Pro to verify the powder charge, I sometimes wonder about that. Consistent neck tension and so on.

I've been shooting 115 DTACs in a 6XC chamber, well, three of them, since 2005. 2950 FPS has always been my sweet spot. This is with right at 39.6 grains of H4350. This, from 26" Schneider 5P barrels from McMillan.

I always got great accuracy with the 115's at 2950. Have switched to the 105 Hybrid, almost same BC and a very easy 3000+. Bill

My buddy uses the 105 Berger in his 6 Competition Match. The best nodes appeared around 3150-3200fps, jumping 0.003 into the lands.
