I want to have my .308 barrel replaced. Already have a blank 30" heavy varmint barrel ready for pickup. What information should I know about barrel replacements before I hand it over to the gunsmith. Want to stay with the Berger 185 BT bullets.
You need to find out what reamer sizes the gunsmith has (diameter of the neck, and freebore), and determine if one will suit your needs. Many will buy a reamer cut to their dimensions, to get this right.

It wil be the best $150.00 you ever spent.... and if you choose to sell it after the work they usually will bring $100.00 shipped if you choose to use a PT&G reamer...
