What I saw over the weekend.

A replica of a crain that was built by International Brown Hoist of Bay City! The first pic was at the North America model engineering show. Second is one still in the field. I don't know where but it is an indication of size.

Yes and up here in Michigan I've seen some in action. It amazes me how easlily they left trains or cars off and onto the tracks. That is a working 1/4 scale model. The boom is Riveted and not welded!

That model is awesome. I had a friend whom I lost touch with and his hobby was taking pics of all the freighters on the great lake ontario which is in my backyard but anyways he started making models of these freighters from pictures he took. One day he finally showed me the collection of ships that he built at 1/8th scale in his basement. He had at least 6 completed and they looked like the real thing. They were a work of art.

The patience, ingenuity and end results of truly dedicated scale modelers is absolutely amazing. It's a real treat when you stumble on one like that crane.

Reminds me of a shovel that used to ply the strip-mined coal fields of west central Illinois some 40+ years ago. Power cables were as big around as my thigh, most folks' houses would fit in the bucket, with room for a few cars of the era.
