What has happened to WA

I grew up in N CA, Spent much of my life traveling N to S. Now live 3000 miles and a political thought away. (well, from most of the population there)
What the hell has happened to my old stomping grounds?
Just today, the Governor of WA has basically agreed that the state should harbor runway children and take control from parents as long as they are "gender transitioning" or getting abortions.
Why do we not have 10's of thousands of protesters in the streets?
If this kind of government take over will not spawn a response, what will?
I fear out country is already lost.
Time to move? Where?

i think it makes sense . If you are going to blame a gun for killing people when it cannot discharge itself, why not let people with mental health problems mutilate their bodies to fix that.
Except we are talking about minor children and the government taking control of them. If you came for my children, I would fight you until I died. Where are the parents of WA. Should be marching on the capitol in my opinion. The fact that they are not says the left wins.

In the long term, there is nowhere to move. No state will be immune from the madness that is ballooning across the country.

The fix for this isn't political, and it isn't gonna be quick. The next few generations that will soon be in control, well --- good luck.

I personally think that the only thing that might change the landscape for real change, will be something so horrific that it will make our current troubles seem silly.

We Christians trust that God is in control, and that his plan will include protection of his flock. I highly recommend joining the flock. jd

I don't disagree with joining the flock, but sometimes things require more immediate reaction than scripture that has been quoted for hundreds of years. You are certainly welcome to live your life in hope of a better solution, and I agree. Unfortunately, what is before us we must deal with or suffer it's immediate rath.

And what happened in Washington has happened in the entire country. It is a major transformation of us humans who live in this country. Of the three or four generations who still live in this country, there has been an incredible change in who we are, the god or gods we worship, the work we do, our morals and values, --- it has happened gradually, and hardly noticeable for many years, but it was happening.

Now, the change is accelerating and becoming so drastic that no one who has been on this earth for thirty or forty years could fail to notice. Those who have been around for longer, say four generations, hardly recognize our country.

Take the guy who was born in the twenties or thirties. His young life was so different than his great grandson's life of today, that there's no possible way for him to relate to it; or probably to respect it.

The old guy was pretty much born into a job. From the time he could handle it, say age six, he had responsibilities. Chores to do, siblings to watch after, anything to help his mom, grandparents, neighbors,-- first paying job as a teenager, buys his first car, probably joins military, very possibly active duty at war-time. The vast majority of these guys were very hard working, probably Christian, patriotic, conservative, (even the Democrats) full of duty, responsibility, family love and pride in their own independence and self sufficiency. The men in this generation married their women, and stayed married to them. This was the main stereotype, and even most neer-do-wells admired it. There is good reason that it was called the Greatest Generation.

Compare that to the young guy who was born in say, "2000". Probably 10% of that generation has any resemblance or even respect for the life of Great Grand-dad who just passed away. And the 10 percent who do, are in the vast minority. I won't go into the differences and values of the young generation that is taking over, but just the fact that the good ones are in the minority, is what's gonna cook us. The saddest thing is that this isn't the kids fault. And it isn't Great Grandpaws fault either.

This flip in values that has occurred has been witnessed by those of us who were born in the fifties and after, and depending on where we lived, how we lived, and many other circumstances, -- we are to some degree responsible for what is happening today.

Now -- how to fix it.?? jd

Reset when you see one of my posts the first thing that should come to mind is sarcasm. I am the redneck version of the Babylon Bee.

“They certainly are doing the devil's work.”

“We Christians trust that God is in control, and that his plan will include protection of his flock. I highly recommend joining the flock. jd”

I’m seeing this unfolding as less a “political issue” and more as a rise of “evil”. Greed, Pride, Sloth……all the seven deadly sins are embraced by this new culture.
I don’t believe sitting at home and praying is going to stop it. “Trust in God” but God gave us all free will and trusted US to use it. What happened to the idea of “Christian Soldiers”?

It is not just Washington state. Just look and listen to the news. It is and has taken over all around the world, in many countries. It is insane and completely wrong, but that is how so many state and world politicians and their followers have done and keep furthering the madness. Mental illness on the increase and governments support and push it, along with the courts now days.

I don't really mean to take the conversation away from shooting and gun ownership related things, and I do believe what I'm about to say IS related ultimately to those things.

One of my pet peeves is one of “the seven deadly sins.” Gluttony. This is instructional.

Of the many things those of us who hold traditional values are assaulted with on a daily basis is the ever-present depiction of morbidly obese people, usually females, presented as “brave” and more recently “beautiful”and “healthy at any weight” and so on. It is, or has, become quite trendy to be fat.

Now, just like any of the current social trends, even if we see the danger in people adopting these ideas, we of course treat individuals we encounter with the respect and decency any one human should extend to another. My issue though is in the promotion, the selling, of such destructive ideas.

These destructive ideas do have a certain appeal to many people. This particular one; hey you can eat all the trash food you want, not exercise or be active (incl. work), indulge yourself because you deserve it. And not only are you brave because you are unashamed, you are healthy and beautiful and are creating a new world in which bigotry and stereotypes will no longer exist. Be proud.

The reality is, you are of little service to the people around you because you are or soon will be disabled, you are selfish and lack temperance and good judgment. You are or soon will be liability instead of an asset. A taker and not a giver.

So...to try to bring this back to guns, the way to push back against these ideas is to be informed. Know the facts, the history, the statistics and be prepared to (at least try to) inform people who are willing to engage in conversation and maybe you can help them begin to think about all of this kind of stuff. Because all of these issues ultimately form a person's world view. If you can poke holes in some of their beliefs maybe you can make them begin to question other things they're led to believe.

I'll add, in general I think it does no good to quote the Bible or talk about God's laws to an unbeliever.

Although the Bible contains universal truths, they're going to reject that outright. But you can convince them with facts, statistics, history and logic. Maybe all of us together in our own circles of influence can begin to turn this around.

Just be ready. As one philosopher said recently, when you speak out against evil it comes after you!

To create a society of slaves you must first destroy morality.

AMEN brother! Like the part in the movie, Jeremiah Johnson when the army comes to ask him for his help to find the stranded settlers and he said to them “I haven’t had this much of the English language spoken to me in a long time, I ain’t used to it“ Man, you are spot on with your observation that is exactly the same as mine. Too bad the young generations do not see this or believe it. It will be their downfall. We humans don’t like to learn from our mistakes.
