What happens when you buy a machine made in New Zealand and it stops working?
If it's an AMP annealing machine, the answer is: "no worry, mate!" (A little Aussie lingo thrown in there, but maybe they talk like that in Kiwi-land as well.
I bought my AMP annealer about two months ago from Graf's and have been very happy with it...annealed well over 1000 cases in 3 different calibers. When Aztec became available, I purchased it, downloaded it and successfully installed it on my machine.
The first time I began to use it, the machine shut down and would not restart. There was no "bang" and no smoke....just quit. After checking the circuits in the house, and trying another outlet, still no go.
I sent an email to AMP and received a very prompt response from Alex Findlay, President of AMP, asking for details and pledging to do whatever it takes to make it right. After digesting my less than informative recitation of what was going on when it shut down, and deliberating with his engineering staff, Alex immediately emailed me the necessary paperwork to put the machine on its way back to NZ.
I'd saved the original packaging, so I packaged it up and dropped it off last Wednesday morning (5/16) at the local Fedex store. Alex and I stayed in touch throughout, and the machine was received at his place on Monday. Rather than delay, they put a new "motherboard" into my machine and sent it on its way back to the USA.
It was delivered this morning about 10am by Fedex, almost exactly 8 days from the time it began its journey to the other side of the world. Alex says his engineers will take some time and testing to verify the problem...perhaps a bad solder or other electronic deficiency.
In any case. I can't say enough about the prompt response and dedication to customer satisfaction of AMP, Alex Findlay and his staff.
Thanks again, Alex!
