What factory ammo for 6.5 creedmoor in Ruger m77 ?

Now that I bought the Ruger m77 6.5 creedmoor target / varmint. what factory ammo would shoot best in this 28 inch barrel with gray laminated stock ? I want to shoot 1000 plus yards. Hornaday makes a 142 gr or 143 gr ammo but I cannot remember what it is called. Maybe some one can post a picture of box ? Also I don't own a chronograph and don't know any one in davenport Iowa that does , what do you think my fps will be out of this gun with 28 inch barrel ? Thanks. Marty

I believe its called Precision Hunter. You'll likely see 2800 fps... give or take.

Ok.is precision hunter 143 gr ? Thanks. Marty
The top light brown box is 140 gr ELD Match ammo--out of my RPR 24" barrel I get 2780 FPS.
The bottom box is 143 gr ELD-X (expanding) ammo--have not got chrony numbers for that--
Suspect you would see 2800+ from your 28" barrel--

Isn't Davenport Iowa where Brownells is ? I wonder if they would have a range with a chrono you could use ?

Davenport, IA. is on the Illinois/Iowa border in what is commonly referred to as the Quad Cities. Brownells, unfortunately, is about 115 miles west of Davenport.

There are two gun clubs around Davenport and they should be in the phone book. If not they are listed online with a search. There is also a gun club in Milan, IL. serving the Quad Cities.

There is no absolute information as to which type of ammunition or load will work best with any particular rifle. Every rifle is unique. That's why most of us invest the time and energy into testing loads.

I suggest that you will need to get some chronograph data if you intend to shoot 1,000 yards or more. I can also suggest that you consider a top of the line scope suitable for long range targets.

Regards.
