what do people treat walnut media with for tumblers

I use jeweler's rouge and a shot of Lyman Turbo cleaner. Only add these occasionaly. It works to my satisfaction.

Just buy lyman tuffnut walnut coated with rouge from them.It lasts a long time.

Eagle One Never Dull Wadding Polish. Just add some to the tumbler and let it run. Beautiful job on brass. Got is at walmart, but i'm sure you can pick it up about anywhere.

A spoon of that Lyman turbo stuff. Seems to last a while. I'm sure there are cheaper alternatives, but I don't want to accidentally get ammonium near my brass and I use litle of it anyways.

I use Zilla Ground English Walnut Shells Reptile Bedding...........

When I clean the cage I put the used media in the tumbler and the lizard urea and excrement helps polish the brass. The downside is lizard poop gets stuck in the flash holes and the cases smell real bad after they have been fired.

BigEd,

Please tell me that is a joke - for some reason I find the thought of prying lizard dung out of flashholes very troubling. Just in case you are serious, I would also be troubled by the chance that lizard pee would adversely affect brass (ammonia? no idea) and that the sticky dung in your flashholes could also be on the inside of your cases, limiting volume in some.

I would suggest changing the order of use but your pet dragons might not enjoy the metallic flavour ;D

And leaving out my dry humor this time...........................

I can't believe the crap some people add to their walnut media. :o

I wet tumble my cases with stainless steel media and don't have a pet lizard. ;) (or put crap or lube my cases) ::)

LMAO!!!

I run it dry. I have used a few polishing mixes before but leave it dry now for getting oil out of freshly neck turned cases.

I'm using mineral spirits and NuFinish car polish. It seems like the car polish leaves a protective coating on the brass, so it does not tarnish or show corrosive finger prints. I've used lots of different kinds of polish, many from the reloading tool manufactures, and it all works ok. I'm set up to do the stainless thing now, but I'm caught up on my loading for now, and don't have anything to play with! Lightman
