What did you reload today

Yesterday, I reloaded several .308 shells, using: 42.0 grains of Varget, behind a 170 grain (.30-30 type bullet). Velocity = 2,430 FPS in my Ruger 77 with 20" barrel. I had a bunch of old-style .30-30 170 grain Winchester Silvertip bullets and decided to see how they would do next falls' Deer Season. What I shot, so far on a target, produced excellent accuracy.

Can I say what I will be loading today? UPS just delivered some 129gr ABLR from Cabelas that I'll be loading up to test in 6.5 PRC. An after dinner project. If the PRC doesn't like them they'll get relegated to the 6.5 manbun.

IMG_1041.JPGJust got done reloading the 77 gr, Sierra 223 bullets for my Savage 110 Elite Precision rifle that a friend gave me. OAL is 2.260. Same load for my AR15. 21gr. of 4064 and Federal AR Match primers. I put in the Berger 80.5 gr. bullets fro reference. OAL is 2.345" and BR4 primer with 21.5 gr. of IMR 4064. My friend said it did not have enough freebore for the longer heavier bullets which us true.

It's blowing 20 and gusting to 40 and snowing so I started out annealing some 6.5 Creedmoor brass. The Peterson brass took 4.6 seconds and the Hornady took 3.5 seconds apiece on my Bench Soruce. Peterson load Berger 144gr. with 41.5 grs. of RL16 @105" jump and 2.855" OAL and 2840 fps. in the winter. The Hornady was 41.7grs. of IMR 4451 @ 2.800" OAL with Hornady 130gr. ELDM bullets. Got to do something on a day like this. Woke up thinking I better try some RL16 powder with the 130 gr. ELDM bullets so I'm starting with 42.3 grs. and see how fast these will go!

After reading about all the people and what they did to get on death row on the" firing squad forum" I needed some therapy so I reloaded some 6.5 Creedmoor brass with Hornady 147 gr. bullets with 41.5 gr. IMR 4350. Then pulled a old new box of Sig 6.5 Creedmoor brass and used 41.3 gr. of 4451 with some old 140 gr. A-Max bullets I have been saving. They have always been a good load. It snowed again and the closed interstate I -40 from Winslow to Ashfork last night and closed I-17 to Phoenix today. When it snows in Arizona they close the interstates.

They close the Interstate (I-80) in Wyoming if it snows much too. I ran US Mail from SW Idaho to Rock Springs (relay) once a week for 17 years. I was on a first name basis with every Truck Stop and Restaurant waitress on the entire 125 mile stretch.

It used to be they would not close the interstate but they would require chains or 4 wheel drive. Plus the highway is on a grade and most people don't know to slow down so they just shut it down. I understand but miss the times when most people had more sense.

When I hunted in WY I was very surprised to see gates in median and on the sides of the hwy. I asked the guy I was hunting with, and he told me that they shut down the interstate for snow. I was dumfounded "they never heard of a snow plow?"

A friend had to go to California and said that they where making a lot of the roads toll roads because they did not have the money to take care of the roads just like not having fire trucks for the fires they had. All the tax money goes some where else. WY is more than likely in the same boat. Arizona also. Tax money does not make it to road maintenance and snow plowing.
