Well, i think it`s time to stop guessing my velosities and get a chronograff. only problem i got is i don`t know which one. my budgets under 200$ so i think my choices are low. i need something that is easy to store and set up but have a good track record with other shootters. could someone please give me some advice on a good entery chronograff

It's a good question. A lot of us have Shooting Chrony's. These work pretty well, in my experience, as long as you don't have bright sun directly overhead. I've had the best luck on overcast, cool days.
Some Chrony's seem to be more "optimistic" than others.
The Oehler 35P is an excellent machine, but, sadly, out of production. Check around and you might find one. The Oehler's we've used recently have delivered velocities on the low end of the spectrum, but at least they're consistent and they work well in the sun.
Then there's the CED Millenium. Most of the people who have them like them, but it's not as compact as a Shooting Chony. I've found the CED controls easier to use than the Chony's. This is what CED claims about it's accuracy:

Conditions: Indoors with consistent incandescent lighting for all chronographs
Test Measurement Equipment: Commercial radar velocity instrumentation
Calibers tested: .22, 9mm, 38 super, 40 S &W, 45 ACP, 223 Rem., 308 Win., & 4.5mm
Results: All calibers measured by the Millennium were within 0.2%,99.8%) of lab recordings, from 0.327% for 223 Rem to 0.081 for 45ACP. Results were better than all other chronographs.,The venerated Oehler tested 0.3% behind the Millennium.) The new IR emitters will virtually eliminate any variation caused by differences in natural lighting."
The CED can also interface with a Windows computer.

Might be just what you need to start out with.
This one has the "remote" read out. I just added a printer to mine and it sure makes it easy to use.
I would guess that most folks don't use their's "that" often but they sure come in handy. Just another tool to get you in the "accuracy" game.JMHO. Mike.

sorry James, i just ordered a Pact profesional chronograff through Midway, thanx for the offer though. this Pact chrono looks pretty good- it`s got a computer to figure all my sd`s and all that other stuff... and it can also calculate bullet drop and even knock down power! i hope it works as good as it sounds
