What chronograph nowdays?

Garmin. Have not tried any of the other most up-to-date models but the Garmin has done everything right so far. A huge upgrade from the Lab Radar which never worked right even with the added trigger.

Liked my Lab Radar but when Garmin hit, sold it ASAP.
Mount it to one post of my Seb, never skips a beat. Their support is pretty good as well.

I have a Garmin that works great
I have no experience with athlon my friend has one of the old lab radars it didn’t pick up shots half of the time he got rid of it when he saw my garmin and got him one like mine

This gentleman has a good read with some testing results. Seems like his tl;dr is that they both work as expected within the confines of acceptability.

Here's the data promised by @Big_Daddy As expected, ammo variations far outshadowed chronograph variations. All four chronographs performed well. You'll note missing shots in the data set. Not the fault of the chonographs, the responsibility lands squarely on human shoulders. Forget to set the right velocity range and they will happily ignore the shot.

In my opinion, a decision between Garmin and Athlon should focus on the chronograph's usability, anticipated product support and one's budget. There's little difference in performance based on this test.

I got the Athlon when it first came out. I have only used it on 3 range trips and have never had any issues.

My Garmin has performed perfectly it is one of the best pieces of shooting equipment I own .
It seemed expensive up front -I kept saying to myself this thing should be $99.95 but...it has helped up my game.

The Garmin casing is plastic.
Internal battery cannot be changed..the Labradar LX casing is Aluminium and internal battery can be changed by user if ever need to.
The Lab LX is bluetooth with a great app.
The Garmin is made in Taiwan..the Lab in Canada.
