What choke and shot for coyotes,12 gauge

Got a benelli nova 24inch up to 3 1/2 inch chamber.What effective range can I get with the right combo of load and tube.I always use rifle but I want to start taking both guns. thanks

If you use Heavy shot mag and a choke designed for it 70 to100yd. I know every one is going laugh.My Grandson killed a turkey stone dead with a 20GA at 68yd His sister did the same with 3'' 12GA at 74 yd.I totally missed 40yd the pattern was so tight. Good Shooting Larry

That's what I use , both rifle and shotgun . I load #4 Hornady buck shot , 27 pellets , at 1300fps , 2 3/4 inch shell , Remington XP wad with BP buffer , Remington 1100 with modified choke . It has never missed , shots up to 60 yards !!

I use a turkey ex-full & #4 buckshot, drops em flat to 60 yds so far.

You might consider a terror from srm performance. I've had good luck using them with dead coyote.

#4 buck with a full choke has worked good for me.
#2's if I run out of#4 buck

As Lhardy suggested, the dead coyote is good stuff. That heavy shot penetrates better than lead. Whatever you choose, be sure to pattern your gun and choke for the ranges you might be shooting. All choke tubes are NOT created equal. You can take a full choke from 6 different manufactures, and each one will pattern differently using the same shot.
