what cartridge is US F-Class Team shooting?

Just curious what the F-Class US Team decided to shoot (if they decided yet) for their upcoming matches? I heard rumors of the 300WSM, 7SAUM, 7 Shehane, 6.5x284, etc.

Anyone know?

Process of elimination:
6.5-284 has been out for a long time now, so no.

The last team tried 7mm short magnums and it did not go as planned.

The .300 WSM is a great round, but has to be throttled down a bit to make range restrictions in Canada and not many can handle the recoil.

The Australians were shooting .284's and .284 Shehanes when they won the World Championship.

If I was a betting man, I would ask 280man before I made a wager as he is the team captain. ;)

Actually, Erik, the calibers did exactly what they were supposed to do and all of our team members shot really well using their magnums. In fact two of our Team members, Kenny Adams and Bob Mead, won the individual World Championship, and came in third respectively, using a 7 RSAUM. However, the question about what we will use in this cycle would be better answered by Rick Jensen, the current Captain of our Team, or Mark Walker the Vice Captain.

Erik cortina do I hear crickets? No typical cortina response, are you feeling ok. And for kelso (off of that 70's show) burrrn, sick burn!

P.s. and to think Erik is the resident expert

Boltman223, you are just a troll, so I won't bother.

I'm not going to reply to Shiraz because there is no need to, the final decision is Rick Jensens and what I or Shiraz have to say is irrelevant.

To answer the OP's question, it's just too early to make a final determination on that, at this time.

We'll be discussing this, as a team, during the two events at the FCNC in Phoenix in Oct.

More to come on that, for those qualified and interested in trying out… :) :)

It's gonna be a 30-284AI Shehane TXL (Turbo-XL). Should get an extra 30fps or so, with only a couple of extra hundred dollars in custom dies and only 2 firings to fully form the brass! :P

I really think there should be a poll on this selection, and a binding one at that. The reason I was pushing the .270 Winchester is simply because we've been told by Carroll O'Connor that it's the best all around caliber and I think the US F-Open National team should use the best. Now for the bullet, I see a nice flat base 256gr .277 half breed bullet going at about 3000-3100FPS out of a 43 inch tube.

You'll need to seat them long so plan the chamber accordingly.

Carroll O'Connor ??? ;D

I think Jean preferred the 20 Vartag. Rob Reiner liked the more manly .221 Fireball and Sally really liked the .577 Tyrannosaurus, for some reason.

Meathead had no recommendation.
