What cartridge is this? Not 300 blackout

I've never seen this before...or even thought it was possible. What you are looking at is a full Length 223 rem case with a 308 cal bullet (right) next to a 300 whisper/blackout on the left.

I picked up a box of brass at a local auction and this round and about 100-200 pieces of primed brass were in it.

It's no 7mm tcu as bullet diameter in fact measures .308 was there a 30 tcu that ive never heard of?

Yes there was a 30 TCU. Several of the early silhouette shooters used
it!!

The was a 30 TCU and there was a 30 Apache , which was just a 223 opened up for a 30 cal slug. I have a 30 Apache and use 300 BO dies to load it.

It's a 300 Hamr... I have 3. Where did you find the cartridge? It's mine! LOL...
Actually the easiest way to tell is set the case up along side a good ol 223 case....if it's about. .160" shorter with a 30 degree shoulder as I suspect...it's a 300 Hamr. The 7mm TCU was full length 1.760" 223 case with a 40 degree shoulder, the 300 TCU would most likely be the same. But it was very rare and 2 other 30 caliber silhouette cartridges were much more popular for hunting and the silhouette game...plus you just found it, no one today is likely to have a gun so chambered...so I'd suspect it's a more modern 300 Hamr.

I believe Dusty got it right. I have one that I inherited from my Dad that he used for Silhouette matches. The case looks to be trimmed a little and it has a Hornady 190 gr bullet seated.
Left - 300 BO/110 gr Nosler Varmagedon
Middle - 556/55 gr FMJ
Right - 30-223/190 gr Hornady BTHP

I know the estate where it came from. The guy was older, but did have some 300blackout stuff as well. This case measures 1.734 so I assuming it is a 30-223 or 300 tcu. CoAl was 2.396
