If you're asking experts what's best I'm not the guy.

It doesn't take nearly as much as many newbies or casual shooters think.

My first 600yd match, first time over 300
ots windham 20" varmint 223 AR
ots federal 77s
averaged better than nines

Wind was moderate, could have been a different story with more wind, I guess.

Most of my LR plinking is done with a Kreiger 6-47L ON A REM 700 Varment Synthetic with the bolt bushed, trued action, and Jewel trigger.

Steel out to 1200, rocks, and assorted vermin.

22 LR, 20-250, 22-250, 22-6mmAI, 223AI, 243AI, 25-284, 6-284, 6.5-284, 6.5 saum, 280AI, 300 RUM, 338 AI. And about a hundred other variations out there. Good luck.

I was going to say 22LR to be a smart ass but I was beat to it. LOL. No Joke, I have shot an M9 at a bunker at about 800 yrds at Camp Pendleton messing around one day. You just aim really high, adjust for wind and wait for your impact and then adjust again. I did eventually hit the bunker.
