What bullet do the prairie dogs prefer?

I’ve just acquired a 8 twist 26” barrel in 6BR. Plan to use this only for 300-600 yard prairie dog shooting. Wondering what the pros are using for a bullet in this situation. Any and all help is much appreciated.

Thanks men
Kevin

I've never seen a prairie dog in Mystic. ;)
Seriously, in 24 years of raining bullets on prairie dog towns across the west, I've shot them with everything from 17HMR to 7MM STW. My favorite 6mm bullets are the 58 and 65 grain Vmax. BUT, they are thin jacketed and not sure how they will hold up to an 8 twist.

^^^ Same as Odie....87g VMax for 500+ PDs from 8T 6XC. Never had one blow up either. Haven't done this LR PDn in years...but when I did the 87s still blew up PDs out to 800-900...no pencil holes.

40g VMax from 20 VT for typical 100-300 yard shots .... 90-95% of my shooting these days.

50g TNT from 222 for 300-500....new to me but replacing 223 for nostalgic reasons.

Get the new 80 eldvt and live a happy life. Just do it. Probably nothing currently available is going to be better.

Midway has the 80 eldvt on sale for $34 and free shipping over $99.

That's what I would be shooting. I already sold almost all of my 22 varmint bullets and completely switched to the 62 ELDVT in 22 because frankly, that bullet obsoleted all the other bullets.

I use an AR with 223 bullets. We go to a ranch every summer and shoot them.
