What bottom metal do I need to work with this stock and this magazine?

I just met a guy at the range and he had a long action Rem 700 in 270 and said he can't get any kind of group with it. He said it's shooting about 2" groups. It's got a very cheap plastic stock with a blind top-loading magaazine.

I brought the rifle home with me and I'd like to switch the action into a wood stock I have on hand that fits, but I need a magazine and bottom metal. I want to pillar bed the action into this stock.

Type in Remington 700 factory detachable bottom metal.

Check with "Jack First Gun Parts"

You would need a factory Remington DBM (Detachable Box Magazine) for a long action. You may can find one with a WANT AD here on AS.

Jack First has the magazine but no bottom metal at all.

I started looking for the factory DBM years ago when it was available. I found a few but the last one I bought was only available with another stock. That was two years ago.

Best of luck finding the bottom metal.

Something else to consider. To use the Remington DBM you will have to remove the feed rails in the action.

After talking to the customer, he wants to make this rifle into a Longrange Precision build. We’re going completely different direction with a different stock and even a different barrel. Thanks anyway!
