What bird is it?

Here's a good pic and info on them:

They are very common in dog towns here in Montana during the summer months.
The prairie dogs will still be active when they are present.
That is so cool ! I've seen Hawks & Owls in action allot on my farm. Very impressive birds.

Red tails are big hawks. While the tail is a reddish tone, immature hawks wouldn't have as much of a red tail. Still big hawks as immature birds. Whitish breast feathers and leg feathers and brown back feathers. Definitely not a bald/golden eagle. Unlikely osprey either.

we have red tails in SC. The bird in question was much larger than our biggest red tail. Feathers appear to be very dark. Who in front and neck. Wish I had a way of getting an image. Maybe next time.

My money is on a Golden. Last time I was there to shoot, if they want the dogs, they gets the dogs. Balds, hawks, ravens and magpies clean up the scraps.
Looked that bird over pretty good & couldn't make myself say buzzard. Was thinking golden but I'm no expert on them.
