What bag for F-T/R

I shot a match this past weekend and I suppose I did ok, considering conditions. I used my Harris bipod and tried both my squeeze bag and my old eared Protektor bag I use on my varmint hunting rifles. It isn’t wide enough, and obviously wasn’t ideal with the Harris. Some folks let me mess with their SEB rests and like the joystick concept, but no way to get one quickly.

I think I’m going to buy a Phoenix bipod before the next match and use my Protektor and see how it fares, and hopefully try an Edgewood after I recover from the $500 bipod.
sebs pop up in the for sale section here, seen a couple recently

I use a Phoenix bipod and a flat 3/4” Protector bag. The bag over time has slanted a little and matches the angle of my XIT stock. I had a SEB Joypod, and it works great, but I prefer the fine vertical adjustments of the Phoenix/XIT stock over the joystick.

used my Harris bipod
I started out the same way. Good for you to go shoot and get acclimated wifh F-class.
I struggled my first season but learned a ton and eventually built a real set up from used parts when folks upgraded their stuff.
Stick with it as this sport has so much to offer. Its the best thing since sliced bread.

I shot a 40x rimfire stock on a Harris bipod with a basic Protektor bag for a couple seasons. Won several matches that way and made it to master at midrange. Got a new stock, barrel, brass and bullet, rest and rear bag. Made HM in mid range and master in LR with my "ship of Theseus" rifle.

I used that bunny ear bag with the new stock, adding different thickness spacers underneath until I found the height that worked for me and my stock. I still have that bag and its great on the bench or with hunting guns, so I don't see it as wasted money. Don't be afraid to spend a season or two figuring out exactly what you need.

I'm finishing up my F-T/R build right now. I have a McMillan XIT stock on a .308. I need to pick up a better rear bag than my squeeze-bags I've used in the past. What recommendations would you have for this combo? Should the stock touch the bottom of the bag, or should it ride the ears?

Thank you in advance.
SEB Bigfoot loaded with heavy sand. Measure the width of the base of your rifle or guestamate what it should be if it were a round bottom and order it with the ears separated by that distance.

I shot another match this weekend. I hadn’t planned to be able to make this one, so I tried the Atlas and squeeze-bag. I scored slightly better, but that was in part at least, due to better conditions.

When I got home last night I ordered a Phoenix bipod. Thanks for the tips, gentlemen.

I have an Edgewood on the way, will report back when I get setup. Also thinking about trying a Protektor Bumblebee. Thanks for the advice.

My bag and bipod have both made it in, thanks for the suggestions.
