What are you doing to get ready for TackDriver 6?

Tuning up my guns for the 600 yard nationals in September after that it's full on focus for the tack driver . I've got a barrel I've been messing with for the tack driver that's looking pretty good just need to fine tune it a bit and get some practice in. Looking forward to TD6 it won't be long!!!

I spent the day at the range working with the 6PPC I shot last year. I set the barrel back .050 inch.
This is also my 68 grn BT with Lubed Cores.
I shot these three groups in three diffent conditions at 100 yards, and the after the last group, held accordingly and wiped out the X.
Bothe this Rifle and my LV shoot about the same. I have to decide which I will finally mount the March Majesta Scope on. Right now it’s on my Farley LV.

Anyway, all practice will be at 200 from now until the TackDriver.

As a note, the LV has a 13.5 Krieger, this rifle has a Bartlien gain twist. IMG_0973.jpegIMG_0972.jpeg

I chambered a barrel this morning to scratch an itch.

I have always wanted to try a 6PPC shooting 105’s with a high number ogive. I had a new 1-8 Krieger, so this morning I chambered and throated it to shoot the 105 Bart’s Gungnir, which is a high ogive VLD style bullet. The throat is around .120.
Next week end I will break the barrel in and see what it will do at 200 yards.
If it handles the upper load window like we shoot with the 66/68 grn bullets, I think it might surprise me at the velocity. It would be great to find an accurate tune at around 2950 fps.
One of my friends shoots a regular 30 PPC at the same velocity that I do my 30 BR with N120.

I have N130, N133, N135 and H4895 on hand.

If this doesn’t work out like I am thinking, I can always set the barrel back up and convert it to 6BR or BRA.

A friend of mine shot an eight twist PPC for a while. It came very close to matching the BR for velocity, low to mid-2800's as I recall. It shot well out to 900 meters. Ultimately, he went back to the BR. This was probably 25 years back or so. I believe he was using 4895. I was surprised at the performance.
I'm in the process of chambering up the latest 308 barrel. All of the campers have left for the season, so my 300m range is open again (the dog doesn't like it, but she's just going to have to suck it up). New scope in the mail.
Non-gun related preparation includes new tires on the truck, in preparation for the 3000 mile drive to get there. I bought and old camper for the back of the truck, rather than pull the trailer down. I'll test it out by driving about 500 miles to attend a 300 yd group/score match in early October. More practice. WH

I’m still trying to figure out how to beat that 16 year old girl that lives across the highway from me. I’ve been shooting for close to 60 years and she beat me last year. Mmm, maybe I shouldn’t feel so bad . She whipped over half the field last year and fully intends to do better this year.

Hit a bit of a snag in my TD6 prep. I ordered a new Sightron scope and instructed them to ship via Canada Post. Driving back from a grocery run, I heard that the union has called for a nationwide strike. I'll try to switch carriers in the morning.
I have a thousand bullets and some Lapua brass probably stuck in a warehouse somewhere too. I may have to make do with what I have on hand. WH
