What are the positive things of removing the Ejector from bolt? ( 700) style bolt

Iv done this in the past, but now I needed to remove the Ejector from my bolt so I can get a better accurate reading on my brass finding my jam point with these new pills I have. Iv gotten my measurements now, so the purpose of taking it out is done with. I was having a hard time keeping the pill in place upon unload.
So, Iv heard, or Iv thought I have heard that some Br shooter's shoot with out an Ejector. If so, what other purposes does this give the shooter?
I think I want to try it, so I won't be having to chase brass.
Not having the Ejector in, would it help in any way in accuracy?
 
The ejector can and will cock a loaded round to the opposite side.

Just from ejector vs. non-ejector tests, a rifle is ALWAYS more accurate without an ejector!

We have seen an accuracy change of as little as .060 to as much as .500 or more between an ejector to no ejector, so it definitely does make a difference.
 
If it has made a difference in other rifles, then I will no doubt try it. I got a good feel for what this load is doing so I should be able to make some conclusion s. For this particular bolt, It slings brass like anything Iv ever had, so I know it's got to be pushing on that side quite a bit.

On an earlier version of the 700 short action, the 722, the ejector indexes the extractor, so for mine I cut off the extractor spring to the point where it just barely would index the extractor, without ejecting a cartridge. If you look around you will find that there are springs that are made with smaller wire, wound to two different weights, both less than the factory one. Also, amazing groups are shot with benchrest guns that have functioning spring plunger ejectors, which I assume are tuned to just have enough strength so that cases would just clear the action. Back in the day, I would trim the stock spring a half turn at a time, checking as I went, until the cases would just barely clear the action.

That's pretty cool. I understand now what you mean. So you tested Ejector tension? That's getting down wid it right there.
 
I remove mine on any Varmint rifle. I prefer to reach in and remove it. I'm to old to bend over and look for it.

My Panda is a fixed pin on the bolt release, and I control how much it clears the spent brass at the very back of the extraction stroke by the speed I hit it.

My Bat is tuned as spoken about the Remington, just enough tension to clear the ejection port. But nowhere enough to interfere with concentrisity, but it never picks it up before the case is centered in the chamber.

My hunting Rifles, feeding flawlessly from the magazine trumps effortlessly is priority, clearing the spent round is essential. So I keep them stiff enough to insure they clear the port cleanly.

Do you have references to these tests? I want to see what kind of rifle(s), test methods, data, etc.
 
Beyond any accuracy benefit, or lack of, the reason people remove them is to keep their brass from flying and bouncing off of the concrete. Tuning the spring is done to just barely have the case clear the side of the action and stock...just laying it over the edge so it drops on the bench. I encourage you to do your own testing in terms of accuracy pro's or cons.

This is why I love my drop port. Brass just falls neatly on to a towel below. I have tuned springs to just barely clear the action and stock on my side ejects but once in a while, the brass will hang out on the edge and I have to knock it down while loading a bullet.

I’m def interested in seeing the test data from a previous post claiming gains in precision before I delve into some testing in this.
 
I just got done shooting a round , testing new pills, without my Ejector, Needless to say, I'll never shoot Br with one again. Not anytime soon anyway. I loved it. I actually could shoot quicker. I didn't have to look for brass. It was so much easier and better. The back of my brass didn't have that mark on it that it sometimes can get. My groups where good too. I had no idea it was this big of a deal. It sounds harmless, but the difference it made. Man! I mean, It wasn't the end all be all*'(, this is the thing) sort of thing. But I'm just saying, I wish I had done it long ago.I kid you not!!
 
I either completely remove the ejector (unless it's my drop port Borden) or use a modified spring in all my Benchrest rifles.

I have a couple of BAT actions and replaced the springs with lighter springs.... from BIC lighters (think that I read a while back about Dusty doing that). The case just clears the port and lands next to my rifle, rather than 3 feet away on the floor.
