I do believe in Captain Crunch.
Hi guys,
I have an Austrian Voere 30-06 made from a demilled m98. 1977 vintage.
About 5 or so years ago I bought it used, traded it to a friend and he found a stripped rear scope mount base(weaver 2 piece bases) when he went to install his scope. I arranged for a smith near him to fix the issue and all was well. He mounted his K4 on it and used it for a half dozen years until he inherited his grandpa's BLR.
Of course I regretted trading him that rifle from day 1. It's in my opinion a super rad looking sporter. Just classic. I get the same feeling looking at this sporter as when I look at a 69 Olds 442.
Anyway, I finally got it back in a trade. I mounted my 4-16 scope on it to do some basic load dev and what the what?! i cant get the scope zeroed. I run out of windage. Like ran out waaaay too soon. Im shooting about 18 inches right of the aim point at 100 yards.

So I gotta figure out what my options are for fixing this.
1)Burris signature rings with off set inserts. Will the offset inserts provide enough adjustment to remedy the issue?
2)leupold standard 2 piece scope bases with the rear base adjustable for windage. Is this an option? Are the screw hole layouts for weaver and leupold 2 piece bases the same? (I'd be shocked if they are). Would adjusting the rear base windage cause stress on the scope?
3)Permanent fix by a competent smith. Is this a possibility, what would it entail?
4)Some other option I have not considered?
The long term plan for this rifle is to use a K4 on it. However, for my load development projects, I'd really like to be able to use at least 16x magnification.
