What action to choose

Hello all, i am new to this forum. I would like to purchase a new action to build up a 6br 300m rifle on. Does anyone have a recommendation on what i could have a look at without haveing to take out a bank loan. Ideally i would like something with an anschutz trigger, or the ability to have one fitted.

Cheers Haemish

The simplest way to proceed without too much money involved is surely to chose a Rem 700 fully trued with TIG welded recoil lug, and to buy an Anschutz Trigger Adapter for Remington on it.
You can find this at BRILEY Mfg for about 100 US Dollars... They have it for Winch 70 also, what is, for me, the better way as it's already a switch barrel action; But what about the aviability of this action ?????
Are you shooting ISSF or NRA 300 meters ? This games is really hard on the barrels as you 'll shooting a lot rounds through it in a short time. I really beleive that worn a barrel much more quickly than others shooting games. Here is why welding the recoil lug can be a good thing. In ISSF a good barrel don't last a long time with Benchrest accuracy. So, if you want to be competitive in a budget, I thing the Rem is the answer...
PS: Sorry for my English language as it's not my native one. :)

It all depends on your budget. I will never buy another factory action and put all the time/money need to make it square. There are a few actions you can get for $7-900 from the custom makers, like Stiller, Lawton or Borden that fit the rem foot print and are tight and square. If you get a rem for 3-400 and spend anohter 2-300 making it right you are pretty much in the same price range. When you sell the custom action you lose maybe $100 or maybe not even that much. When you sell the "fixed" rem you get you lose most of the "fixing" money and maybe more. If you have more money to spend get into the kelby, Nesika, Bat and get more options and match tolerances on everything. That is just my .0002 cents.

You could stay fairly local and go with a Barnard. I haven't had one myself, but a lot of people have been very happy with them from what I've read.

Go with a Barnard from NZ, you won't find anything better for the ISSF game, or any game for that matter, especially since you are in Aus.

I'll second Ian's responce for the use of a Barnard P-O2 action.
Bolt swing/trigger/lock time - second to none.
