had to say about gun laws. From a story in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune online edition, on 16 February 2016 by Courtney Tompkins.
"After nabbing a state championship last weekend, a team of Arcadia High School seniors is preparing for a trip to Washington, D.C. in April to compete for a national title.
For the competition, the school’s government team, 'We the People,' will argue their views on the history of and philosophy behind the U.S. Constitution, as well as modern applications of it."…
Emma Li, 17, shared her group’s interpretation of the Second Amendment, or the people’s right to “keep and bear arms”…
“We should implement gun control laws at a national level to help reduce the number of mass shootings seen in the media,” she said. “Part of the reason why this happens is we don’t have enough mental health background checks so I think implementing those sort of policies would help to minimize the people who can get access to guns.”
Isidro Santa Maria, 17, argued a different view.
“I believe one of the primary purposes the Second Amendment was included in our constitution is to allow people to better defend themselves,” he said.

1) The education system in Arcadia failed to teach about our Constitution since a reading list of the READILY available commentary by the Framers obviously… wasn't included ?
2) One must question Ms Li's contention re: the "group's interpretation"… given the two team members hold DIFFERENT opinions.
3) The group clearly contends that the U.S. Constitution is a "living document" and subject to modern interpretation. That alone is reprehensible.
