What 6.5 bullet 123 bullet to use?

I have decided that I am going to use a 123g bullet in my 6.5x47 but am curious what bullet is more consistent. The gun will be used in medium range bench rest shooting (300-600yds)
123 hornady A Max
123 Lapua Scenar
123 Sierra match

I had 3 / 6.5 x 47's and the 123 Scenars are at the top of the heap in accuracy. Every one of my barrels loved them. My problem was obtaining them during the prolonged shortage. If you can't get hold of them, you might try the 136's>> I have not tried them, although I hear they are excellent. If not those, the Berger 130 VLD is amazingly accurate too, although they never obtained the accuracy level of the 123 Scenars I shot.

A lot depends on which model your rifle barrel prefers. All three will shoot very well indeed in a good 260 / 6.5 Creedmoor / 6.5X47L with a match barrel in terms of producing small groups. All seem consistently dimensioned and well made, although the Scenars of which I have the greatest experience, I would rate as outstanding.

The 123gn Scenar is the most widely used in the UK by far and is a very popular bullet for F-Class out to 600 yards. At 800, it'll still perform very well, but seems to show some weaknesses against 130-142gn models and beyond 800, I've found it somewhat limiting unless the conditions are very stable. The reason for its popularity here is at least partly (mainly?) down to availability. The other two are on permanent back-order.

The new 120gn Scenar L is getting very good reports from 6.5X47L shooters who say it's even better than the 123. I have a couple of hundred but have yet to try them.

I have one open box with 10-12 gone, and an unopened box of Lapua 123 grain Scenars I'll sell for $75, shipped to your door (lower 48).

Most people that I know here in TX shoot Berger 130s in their 6.5x47s & I do too. They can be pushed as fast as the 123 class pills and assuming they shoot as well in your rifle, you have a better BC working for you. I've tried 108 Scenars, 123 Scenars, 123 Sierras, 123 A-Max, 140 A-Max, 142 Sierras & 140 Hybrids as well. The 140 Hybrids are awesome, but depending on your freebore, you may be short on case capacity to drive them fast enough.

Good luck. I think you'll like the 6.5x47.

I run a 123 Scenar in a .260 and it is very accurate for me. I do have a relatively terrible barrel. I shoots the best on anything I tried until I went to the 136L. I could get the 123 to a 1000 so it isn't all that bad.
